New York Invasive Species Clearinghouse and Website
The New York Invasive Species Information Website - NYIS.INFO and its host, the New York Invasive Species Clearinghouse, were founded in October
2008, funded through a contract with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. [The two are generally both referred to as NYIS.INFO.]
NYIS.INFO was established in response to Recommendation 5 of the November 2005 report of
the New York State Invasive Species Task Force report to the Governor and Legislature. The Task Force recommended that the State should integrate invasive species databases and information clearinghouses.
This resulted in the creation of the database project
iMapInvasives and NYIS.INFO.
NYIS.INFO is a program initiative of New York Sea Grant, a cooperative program of the State University of New York (SUNY) and Cornell University.
A Scientific Advisory Board will advise NYIS.INFO on invasive species and topics that should be addressed by the project.
